Be amongst the first in Australia to celebrate our Queen’s 70th Platinum Jubilee by learning and performing an English Sequence Dance to music, both of which were famously scripted and composed with Royal approval!
David Read MA, a highly educated and accomplished musician and composer, firstly composed the beautiful piece of music called the ‘Platinum Waltz’ with the sole purpose of making his contribution to the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations. Subsequently, suggestions from the British Dancing Fraternity, prompted David to approach experienced dance teachers, Maureen Stewart and Jim Currie, to choreograph a beautiful accompanying slow waltz to further contribute to the Royal accolades by involving the whole Social Sequence dance population in Great Britain’s celebrations. However, ever cognisant of the legalities of the Copyright Act, David approached the ‘Palace’ and was surprised by the lovely personal response he received from Her Majesty. Now one month later, it appears that the Platinum Waltz and its accompanying music has taken the dance population of Great Britain by storm.
Walter’s long standing and close friendship with David Read has motivated Walter to further expand this unique way of celebrating this Royal 70th Jubilee to the Australian Dancers, by seeking consent from David, to both teach and promote the performance of the Platinum Waltz with David’s flawless music, locally in the dances with which he is associated. Thus, initially, on Saturday the 28th May 2022 both Carol and Walter will be instructing in the performance and nuances of the Platinum Waltz at their dance at Crown St. Holland Park Brisbane Qld.
